Humanitarian Award

Best Shorts Humanitarian
WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF FILM TO CHANGE OUR WORLD.

Impact – Impactful films are instrumental in opening minds, changing hearts and inspiring audiences to make a difference for the world’s most pressing problems.
Change – Films change attitudes and beliefs, heighten sensitivity and bring about individual and social change. Often they are someone’s first exposure to a particular topic, raising the awareness that something needs to be done.
Influence – As such, we believe that filmmakers are as important to meaningful change as policy makers, organizations, fund raisers and issue leaders.

ULTIMATELY – COMPELLING FILMMAKING IS A GAME CHANGER.

BEST SHORTS HUMANITARIAN AWARD:

The goal of the Humanitarian Award is to honor filmmakers who are bringing awareness to issues of Ecological, Political, Social Justice and Equality, Health and Wellness, Animals, Wildlife, Conservation and Spiritual importance.  Each year Best Shorts bestows a Humanitarian Award to a deserving filmmaker who is committed to making a difference in the world and tells the story with outstanding filmmaking craft.

*** The awardees of the Humanitarian Award come from the judges recommendations only!  Each year the judges nominate filmmakers who not only highlight critical issues of our times but also showcase these issues with exceptional craft in production and filmmaking ***

Oscar Humanitarian Statue

We have seen a huge increase in humanitarian films over the past few years and our desire to honor those filmmakers has grown along with that – ultimately encouraging us to expand this honor to include more deserving filmmakers.

This is not an award that can be submitted for.  Rather – these selections are hand picked by the staff and judges that are judging the films  received throughout the year in the general competition. Of the hundreds of films that are screened that may have a qualifying topic – only those that are nominated by the judges go on to be considered for the Humanitarian Award.  The highest scoring film becomes the Grand Prize winner.  In addition to the Grand Prize – films whose score qualifies them to receive an award at another level – will be bestowed with a Humanitarian Honor in the Outstanding Achievement, Award of Distinction or the Honorable Mention levels.  We feel very strongly in supporting filmmakers that are using their talents and passion to make a positive difference in the world.

Winners are rewarded with promotions through global media outlets, promotion through social media, assistance with Press Releases, special laurels to include on their work and more.  The Grand Prize winner receives a beautiful 24 K gold-plated statuette.  The gorgeous “Winged Achievement” figure exemplifies the spirit of the award and is created in the United States by the company that makes the coveted Oscar statuette.  It is a significant privilege to honor such deserving filmmakers.

About the statuette.  The “Winged Achievement” is crafted by the maker of some of the most recognizable awards in the industry, including the Emmy, Accolade, Telly and others!  The award figurine stands an impressive 13.25 inches (33.66 cm) tall and nearly five inches (12.7 cm) wide.  With its solid ebony wood base, stands 16 inches tall (40.64 cm).  There is nothing diminutive about the award as it weighs in at 5.7 pounds (2.59 kg)!  Truly a stunning work of art and one that will certainly stand out proudly in your awards collection!
